The Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) and advocacy.scot will deliver a service in libraries to help people navigate Social Security Scotland benefits.
The initiative will see trained advocates from advocacy.scot- run by Advice Direct Scotland– offers in-person support in select public libraries throughout the country.
Our advocates will help YOU access benefits and ensure YOUR voice is heard.
The library service is an ideal option people who prefer a more personal interaction or face barriers to accessing online services.
The first phase of the programme will launch in the following libraries:
Fraserburgh Library.
Alloa Library.
Coldside Library, Lochee Library and Wellgate Library.
Dunbar Library.
Drumbrae Library and Leith Library.
Dunfermline Library, Kennoway Library, Kirkcaldy Library, Lochgelly Library, Methill Library, Rosyth Library and Rothes Halls Library.
Bridgeton , Dennistoun Library, Elder Park Library Maryhill Library, Mitchell Library, Pollock Library Pollokshaws Library and Springburn Library.
Dingwall Library.
South West Library.
Elgin Library.
Arran Library and Kilwinning Library.
Coatbridge Library.
Ayr Library.
Larkhall Library.
Almondbank Library, Bathgate Library, Broxburn Library and West Calder Library.
By embedding these services within trusted, familiar community spaces, the partnership aims to make it easier for people to access help while also strengthening engagement with local library services.
Visitors will be encouraged to become library members, connecting more people with books, digital resources, learning opportunities and community activities.
